Interpretation and Definitions

The words whose initial letters are capitalized have meanings defined below. These definitions apply regardless of whether they appear in singular or plural.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

  • Account means a unique account created for You to access the Service.
  • Affiliate means an entity that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with a party.
  • Application refers to FaidaSense.
  • Company ("We", "Us", "Our") refers to FaidaSense Technologies, Nakuru, Kenya.
  • Cookies are small files stored on Your device.
  • Country refers to Kenya.
  • Device means any device used to access the Service.
  • Personal Data means information relating to an identifiable individual.
  • Service refers to the Application or Website.
  • Service Provider means third parties who process data on Our behalf.
  • Usage Data means automatically collected data.
  • Website refers to faidasense.com.
  • You means the user of the Service.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

We may collect:

  • Email address
  • Name
  • Phone number (primary login identifier)
  • Address (optional)

Financial and Transaction Data

FaidaSense is a personal finance tracking and record-keeping app. We collect financial data that You voluntarily enter, including:

  • Income and expense records you choose to track
  • Debt and credit records (for your personal tracking)
  • Transaction history

Important: FaidaSense does not provide financial services, banking, loans, investment products, or financial advice. This is a tool to help you record and track your own finances - not a financial institution.

This data is used solely to provide the Service and is not sold to third parties.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically and may include:

  • IP address
  • Device type and OS
  • App usage behavior
  • Error logs and diagnostics

Local Data Storage and Offline Use

FaidaSense uses an offline-first architecture.

This means:

  • Data may be stored locally on Your device before syncing
  • Data may not immediately sync to our servers
  • Sync depends on network availability and system performance

You acknowledge that uninstalling the app, clearing data, or losing Your device before synchronization may result in permanent data loss.

The Company is not responsible for loss of unsynchronized data.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Authenticate users
  • Store preferences
  • Improve functionality

Where required, non-essential cookies are used only with Your consent.

App Permissions

FaidaSense may request the following permissions to provide its features:

  • Internet - Required for syncing data and authentication
  • Notifications - To send payment reminders and app updates (you can disable in settings)
  • Camera - For scanning receipts or documents (optional feature)
  • Storage - For exporting reports and backups (optional feature)

These permissions are requested at runtime when needed. You can manage or revoke permissions anytime through your device settings.

We do NOT use:

  • Contacts access
  • Location tracking
  • Geofencing
  • Background location

We process Your Personal Data based on:

  • Your consent
  • Performance of a contract
  • Legal obligations
  • Legitimate interests (e.g., improving the Service, fraud prevention)

Use of Your Personal Data

We use data to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Manage accounts
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Communicate via email, SMS, or push notifications
  • Improve features using aggregated and anonymized analytics
  • Prevent fraud and misuse

Sharing Your Personal Data

We may share data:

  • With Service Providers

Payment Data

Payments are currently processed through the Google Play Store.

In certain versions of the Application (such as APK distributions or future releases), payments may also be processed through third-party providers, including mobile money services such as M-Pesa (via IntaSend, Pesapal, or similar services).

We do not store sensitive payment credentials such as PINs.

Third-Party Services

We use:

Google AdMob Ads (free users only) Device advertising ID, IP address, interaction data
Firebase Crashlytics Diagnostics Stack traces, device model, OS version, anonymized user ID

These providers access only necessary data.

Advertisements

Ads are shown only to free-tier users.

Ad providers may collect:

  • Device advertising ID
  • IP address
  • Interaction data

Paid users do not see ads.

Retention of Your Personal Data

We retain data:

  • Account data - duration of account + up to 24 months
  • Usage data - up to 24 months
  • Support data - up to 24 months

After this, data is deleted or anonymized.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your data may be stored outside Kenya. We ensure appropriate safeguards.

International Users: If You access the Service from outside Kenya, You acknowledge that Your data may be transferred and processed in Kenya or other countries where our providers operate.

Delete Your Personal Data

You may:

  • Delete Your account in-app
  • Request deletion via email

Some data may be retained for legal compliance.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

We may disclose data:

  • During business transfers
  • To law enforcement
  • To protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud

Security of Your Personal Data

We use reasonable safeguards such as encryption and access controls, but no system is completely secure.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach posing risk to users, We will notify affected users and authorities as required by law.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access Your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion
  • Restrict processing
  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent

You may request a copy of Your data in a structured format (e.g., CSV or Excel) via support@faidasense.com or in-app export features.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under 16.

We are not responsible for third-party websites.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted with a new "Last updated" date.
